iPhone Pizza – Vexed deliver Domino’s App
11/03/10Vexed have helped Domino’s Pizza celebrate ten years of online ordering with a new iPhone app – bringing their brand bang up to date. The app, which went live on November 13th, has already seen thousands of orders in the short time from mobile pizza fans across the UK and Ireland.
With Vexed already handling Domino’s website and e-commerce platform, they were the natural partner to extend the store onto the smartphone. Vexed’s wider experience includes big brands such as Virgin Atlantic, De Vere Venues, Maggie’s Cancer Centres and New Look – all on big build innovative projects, adding to the considerable experience that the agency had running the Domino’s site.
The new iPhone app is a web app – similar to those used by the BBC for their iPlayer service or Amazon’s UK store. It is accessed from www.dominos.co.uk or www.dominos.ie and offers all of the features of the main site, optimised into a bite-sized form, specially made for the phone. Vexed also helped the brand roll out a new pizza tracker which helps hungry customers keep track of their orders as they are made, put in the oven and dispatched.
“We’re seeing a lot of demand from our clients for iPhone apps,” explained Commercial Director, Daniel Strawson, “and we’re only too happy to help. The app was the most high profile one we’ve done and it was an interesting project translating the web experience onto a mobile device. It’s great to see so many Domino’s customers already using it.”
Sales and marketing director for Domino’s Pizza UK and Ireland, Robin Auld, said: “The translation of our site onto the iPhone has already proved popular with our customers and we’re very happy with the work that Vexed did in building the web app. It’s another fitting way for us to celebrate ten years online.”
